Materials and Care
Materials And Care instructions
Over time and use, wood develops a natural patina from exposure to light, oxygen and oil from the touch of hands. We prefer to use natural hand applied finished over these materials to allow the natural process of patination to take its course.
CARE FOR WOOD WITH AN OIL AND WAX FINISH, DANISH SOAP FINISH, OR BLACK STAIN:
Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. Wipe clean with a damp soft cloth. Paste wax can be reapplied once a year to renew and protect the finish.
CARE FOR UNFINISHED WOOD:
Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. Wipe clean with a damp soft cloth. The unfinished wood will acquire a patina over time with use. If you wish to remove dirt or stains, sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper with the grain of the wood and buff clean with a dry cloth.
CARE FOR BRASS AND BLACKENED STEEL:
Our metals are finished with a simple metal wax finish and are intended to patina over time. Dust regularly with a soft microfiber cloth or duster. To clean, wipe with a damp soft cloth. If you wish to maintain a bright finish, a metal polish can be used (such as Cape Cod metal polish). Apply a metal wax (such as Sculpt Nouveau clear wax) after each polish.
CARE FOR MIRROR-POLISHED COPPER:
Our mirror-polished copper finish can be easily scratched; when cleaning use a very light touch with a clean soft cloth material, such as microfiber.
Care for leather:
CARE FOR LATIGO LEATHER:
We use a thick latigo leather that is structural but will form into use over time. Exposure to light, moisture and weather can affect the look and feel of the leather. Use an all natural leather salve (such as Otter Wax), oil or wax as needed to retain a soft quality.
CARE FOR SADDLE LEATHER:
Exposure to light, moisture and weather can affect the look and feel of the leather. Use an all natural leather salve (such as Otter Wax), oil or wax as needed to retain a soft quality.
